About Our Products
Q: What is a lease?
A: A lease is an agreement between Rent Mother Nature® & lessee (lease-holder), guaranteeing a share of one harvest for one season.
Q: What is included in a 'Lease' gift?
A: A Lease includes:
- A beautifully designed & personalized (parchment) lease document with an embossed gold seal, which is sent to your recipient.
- An announcement folder (inscribed with your gift message) that describes the many benefits of your gift.
- Entertaining & informative progress reports (& an optional photo) to keep them up-to-date on the harvest as it is nurtured.
- Upon completion of the harvest, your recipient's fresh & natural gift is delivered to their door.
- Satisfaction & bountiful yields are 100% guaranteed!
Q: Are current-year Lease items still available after the crops have been harvested?
A: No, once the harvest is in, you will have to wait until the next season. We can send the Lease document now, and then send the progress reports (and photo, if ordered) next season. We do have some leases, cow, goat, lobster & oyster, that are available year-round (your recipient tells us when to make the delivery of the harvest).
Q: Is the cheese all delivered in one shipment?
A: Yes. Don't worry, these are small wheels. Brie & Chèvre will keep for at least a month when refrigerated and Cheddar lasts for months.
Q: How long will gift baskets items remain fresh?
A: If individually refrigerated, all basket components will be good for, at least, 6 months (cheese). Condiments, etc. have a shelf-life of, at least, 9 months.
Q: Are harvests all delivered in one shipment?
A: Yes.
About Ordering
Q: Can I have the lease sent to me for presentation?
A: Yes. The Lease can be sent to you, but we need your recipient's address so the progress reports and harvest will go to your recipient.
Q: Can I send a personalized message with my gift?
A: Yes, all our gifts are sent with the gift message you request. This message can be entered online, when placing a phone order or mailing in our catalog's order form.
Q: What is your guarantee policy?
A: All Rent Mother Nature® Leases and our carefully chosen gift items are guaranteed to delight both you and your gift recipients. If, for any reason, we do not meet your expectations we will promptly replace the shipment or refund your money.
Q: If I have more than 20 recipients can I still use your web site?
A: Yes, but you will find it easier to fax, email, or call us with any large order.
Q: What is your discount policy?
A:Our corporate gifts page lists all of our products grouped by price range.
Orders between $1000 & $2000 receive a discount of 5%.
Orders between $2001 & $4000 receive a discount of 7.5%.
Orders above $4000 receive a 10% discount.
We keep a cumulative total of your orders and apply the first discount when your orders total $1000.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: 9 to 5 (EST). During December we will be open until 6:00 P.M. If you send us an email, at any time of the year, we will always reply within 24 hours. We also reply promptly to phone messages.
Q: Do you guarantee Christmas delivery?
A: We guarantee Christmas delivery of any lease orders that we receive by December 17, 2008.
Q: When do I need to place an order to be guaranteed Christmas delivery?
A: Lease orders placed by 12/17/08 will arrive for Christmas. Last-minute shoppers can receive an emailed Lease in advance of the mailed Lease. The emailed Lease (sent as an attachment) can be printed and personalized by you with the recipient's name. You will need to add info@rentmothernature.com to your email 'white list' (the email addresses that your server won't filter out).
We also offer express (FedEx) options for Lease Documents:
- To send a Lease by Next Day Air =$15.95
- To send a Lease by Two-Day Air =$8.95.
Q: What service options do you offer last-minute shoppers?
A: For last-minute shoppers we now offer an option that allows us to email (as an attachment) copies of "Lease Documents" directly to you, that you can print -in time for Christmas (with the actual documents to follow by US mail). There is no extra charge for this service, and we can process an order on that basis right up to December 22. To use that feature, we request that you call us at 1-800-232-4048 (and specify that you want the lease emailed). You will need to add info@rentmothernature.com to your email 'white list' (the email addresses that your server won't filter out).
Q: Why do you need recipient's address when I request that the lease be sent to me?
A: This allows us to send your recipient(s) their progress reports and harvests.
Q: What happens if the crop fails?
A: This hasn't happened yet. If it were to happen, we would offer you 3 options: A full refund; a roll-over to next year's crop; or your choice (or your recipient's) of an equivalent, available crop.
Q: Why do you ask for email addresses?
A: To contact customers quickly, to confirm orders, and to provide shipment tracking numbers.
Q: Do you sell or rent our names?

A: Only non-perishable lease items (e.g., maple syrup) and merchandise, via ground service. Shipping to Canada is an additional $20 per order. Outside U.S. & Canada is an additional $50 per order.
About Our Farmers
Q: Can I visit my farm?
A: Most of our farmers allow visitors. Our apple farmer even encourages you to come and 'pick a peck'. Our dairy farms (especially the cow farm) are less enthusiastic about visitors due to concerns about introducing germs into the animals' environment, as well as insurance liability issues.
Q: How does Rent Mother Nature® benefit farmers?
A: We give them business that they can't get by themselves. Our web site and catalog provides them access to a new niche market (consumers who are concerned about protecting the environment and care about how their food is grown) that rewards small family farms that practice natural, chemical-free, self-sustainable agriculture.
